For example, one only needs to make the sword such that the flames never quell, even when placed in a scabbard or released from hand. And that doesn't protect the user from fire. And suddenly you've got a thing they want to use, but also hate to use.<br />I tried it once, in a game where the theme more or less was that magic is just as dangerous - if not more so - than it is useful.
